Rapid Test Kit for Mycoplasma gallisepticum
Treating the diseases of native chickens is more of a hit-and-miss technique. Medication administration is more broad-spectrum than infection-specific veterinary medicines. In return, the cost associated with disease control measures becomes expensive. But worry no more: the Central Philippine University Research Center for Product Development is developing a novel rapid test kit for detecting Mycoplasma gallisepticum, commonly known as Chronic Respiratory Disease. Turmeric-based-phytomedicine to control Pseudomonas aeruginosa?
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacterial infection among native chickens that causes about 72% mortality among chicks less than two weeks old. It may reduce mortality by 40% in older chickens. This pathogen causes septicemia or inflammation of internal organs; infected chicks excrete greenish exudates, pneumonia, necrosis of the liver, and even the unabsorbed yolk during hatching. . .Read more...

The Department of Science and Technology—Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) is offering undergraduate scholarships for deserving students graduating from senior high school. The agriculture-related courses are listed in the priority list for the said program, and the College of Agriculture, Resources, and Environmental Sciences is one of the accredited colleges where the student could opt to enroll. The Commission on Higher Education introduces the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, or Republic Act 10931. It aims to aid students from the poorest of poor households to access a quality college education.
